For 25 years, comedian Tim Cavanagh has been a fan favorite on “The Bob and Tom Radio Show” with his funny songs and “Cavalcade of Celebrity Birthdays.” The legendary “Dr. Demento” has featured thirty of Tim’s songs on his show over the years. He has also appeared on ABC-TV, Comedy Central, and Dry Bar Comedy.
Emo Philips says: “Tim is funny down to his very marrow and is one of my closest friends, real or imaginary.”

On February 22, 2025, Emo and Tim performed at The Olympic Theater in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
After he got back to his hotel room, Tim emailed Emo:
“I’m struck with a thought I’ve never had before: that I’ve just experienced the best comedy show I’ve ever been a part of. It’s exhilarating! I mean, over the years, I’ve worked with greats like Seinfeld, Leno, Poundstone, Degeneres, Steven Wright and countless others. But this night shone brighter than all the others.”
Tim’s excitement was then turbocharged by an email he received the next day from Steve Shriver, the theater owner:
“A packed house, two legendary comedians, and nonstop laughs — what a night! Having Emo Philips and Tim Cavanagh was a true privilege. Their humor couldn’t be more different, and yet each delivered a master class in comedy.”
And there was more good feedback to come. 2 hours later, Tim received an email from Tom W.:
“Thank you so much for a great night of entertainment. The show with you and Emo last night was awesome! I drove 190 miles round-trip from Platteville, WI to Cedar Rapids, IA. Given the fact that you gave me 265 laughs, it was well worth it!”
Tim wrote back: “That is a very impressive 1.4 LPM (Laughs Per Mile)! Well done! But for the future, keep in mind that limited risibility and jokes that involve a missed direction can bring that number down significantly. REMEMBER: YOUR SMILEAGE MAY VARY!”
